Oh Dilbert,
My faithful friend.
Whatever will I do without you?
I waited so many years for you to be a part of my life.
Your seemingly boundless energy,
your cheery top hat,
the perky green feather you displayed so proudly,
and the way you were always there for me when I just needed to smile.
The joy you brought our family could never be measured,
as my horror at coming in from putting laundry on the line,
only to find your battered and broken body clutched in the fist of a smiling three year old,
with red fluid dribbled all over the floor.
I bid you adieu my friend, may we meet again.

May He Rest in Pieces
A typical night...
2:05 AM
"MOMMY! MOMMY!"
I've been asleep maybe an hour and a half... I stumble into the twins' room to find them both awake and upset. As I move towards the screamer, Trevor, my husband makes his way to the other, only to be quickly rebuffed. " No, no no, I want Mommy." wails Langdon. This is the way of things. During the daylight hours, Kevin can do no wrong, but once the lights go off he's chopped liver, (That's Mr. Liver to the public at large.)
So it goes...
"Mommy there's a giant crocodile!"
"No honey, there's no crocodile. It's just a bad dream."
"A crocodile!"
"Honey, Daddy's so tough, there's no way a crocodile could get in the house. It's just a nightmare honey, a bad dream."
"Crocodiles are not nice, spiders and worms are nice."
"You're right honey, now let's tuck you back in so I can help Langy too."
Now on to baby #2...
"Bad dreams are not nice."
"No honey, bad dreams are not nice, but they're just a dream. Now let me tuck you in so you can go back to sleep."
2:31 AM
"Mommy? Mommy?"
Trevor again.
"Honey? Are you okay?"
"I want to cuddle for a little bit."
He's woken again, still upset over the dream. So I try just giving him a hug, cradeling him in my arms; not good enough. I ended up crawling into bed with him, legs dangling off the edge of his toddler bed.
2:40 AM
Back in bed, finally.
2:57 AM
More sounds from the baby monitor. They just sound like talking in their sleep, so I ignore them and try get back to sleep.
3:25 AM
My husband starts talking in his sleep....
And so it goes..

So Trevor has decided he's a pig. It's so cute, he'll walk around oinking for hours, and should we forget he's a pig, he'll come stand right in front of us and oink. I listen to them through the baby monitor at night, and sometimes Langdon gets in on the game and will answer him by barking. I remember the older kids having a fun imagination too, but it's neat to watch the twins play together; to see what they come up with. We know this game will lose it's shine soon enough, so I'm going to try get my Honey to capture it on film. So, for now we have a three year old pig, and the occasional three year old dog. :-)
Okay, let's see if this works. I'm shamelessly copying Stevie, and attempting my first video clip. (It's flattery if credit is given and no copyright infringed, right?)
This is a clip of the twins ploaying outsid in the sprinkler, nothing Earth shattering, but fun none the less!
Let's see, the biggie this week... My daughter won an essay contest. Yeah! We're so proud. The Democratic National Convention had a "Right to Lead' essay contest and she made it as one of the 54 finalists. The two big winners received laptops and will get to go to the DNC. The finalist will get to be ambassadors to the delegates, with each child given a delegate to corrospond with. I'm not sure of all the respinsibilities just yet, but we'll be receiving the info in the mail soon, and I'll update at that time.
I completed my Nurse Aide Course... Now it's on to state certification and then out into the workforce! Once I find a job I'll start working on my RN; with the job paying for it of course! I'll definitely have to bee choosy with where I work though, because I'll have to sign an employment contract for them to pay for it. Yeah! Onwards and Upwards!
And finally, a cute pic of the twins from Mother's Day!!!! Hugs!

Well, the boys are almost three now, and have developed the dreaded 'Sonic Scream.' You know the one, when they hit that note that can not only make your ears bleed, but can peel paint. Of course, having older children, I've had experience with said screech, but never imagined how truly disabling it could be when in stereo...

Or perhaps we just tempted fate far too long? It was just a week or two ago that my Sweet Baboo and I were remarking on how fortunate we are that our kids rarely get sick. Why, the flu bug had yet to be at our home, and had been long gone in all our friends and/or family. Sigh... The last two nights I have been up for hours with one twin, (Langy,) changing his bedding so many times I ran out of linens. Of course the last two days have been spent in a vain effort to stay on step ahead of the laundry. But today showed signs of the end... I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, just in time for Trev to say, "Mommy, I feel sick." and promptly ralf on the carpet I had just steam cleaned. Ah well, at least tomorrow is the Baboo's day off. We shall win the war, if not the battle!
